By halfway through 2009, Cooper thinks he will have enough material to mount the first exhibition. 'Unreality is interesting,' he says. 'As a photojournalist, you're meant to look at moments of extreme emotion. It seemed to me, after a while of doing that… that is unreal as well. As Baudrillard said, the proliferation of images means we live in an increasingly unreal, mediated world. It's a challenge to try and capture that because you have to start dealing with the medium itself.'
